I was first introduced to the practice of yoga during my first years of post-secondary. I had just returned home from a trip to Japan where I was immersed in the Mahayana Buddhist Lineage of Shinnyo-En. I was heavily influenced by my experiences there, which became a pivotal turning point in my life, and when I later met my university philosophy T.A./yoga teacher, he told me I was already a “yogi” without even knowing it! And so began my formal introduction and journey along this sweet path.
This led me to complete my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training with Gaiatri, followed by another 300hr Advanced Teacher Training a few years later. During my time in between, I became increasingly fascinated by the innate wisdom of the subtle energy body. This led me to complete further studies in Ayurveda, specializing in Marma Therapy – a type of acupressure massage that works with the meridian pathways of the body influencing the whole-body-being energetically, mentally, emotionally, physically, and psycho-spiritually. In addition, I completed foundational studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Holistic Nutrition, Tui Na Chinese Massage, Cupping and Scraping therapeutic techniques, and healing with the Native American Medicine Wheel.
What keeps me coming back to my mat is a rooted and growing sense of reverence for the practice and the continual unearthing of something new to be discovered about my Self. And it is through this practice where I have excavated the deepest layers of self and heart in order to reveal what is really underneath it all.
