Challengers, Week 3 – A Note from Rosa…

Who am I? Why am I here? These are the questions that resonate within me during the first few moments of being on my mat. Without hesitation, I set my intention and my body softens, as if to invite the answers to those 2 poignant questions into my mind through my breath.

When I am practicing, I know that I am exactly where I need to be, but it isn’t always this easy. A committed yoga practice is difficult to maintain in the face of our busy lives and long to--do--lists. My teacher, Rameen Peyrow, once said, “If it seems easy to practice, well, then you are just enjoying your practice. When the practice is hard, you are being reminded that you are moving away from your true self. It is the friction and heat that you generate during the physical postures that allows you to burn away the layers of resistance so that the true self can emerge.” This is what gets me to my mat when I have a million reasons not to be there. This is when I need my practice the most.

This challenge will leave you with ups and downs, highs and lows. While you celebrate the highs, push judgment aside during the lows so that you can embrace and accept who you are and why you came. Trust yourself along this path of self-- discovery and as you collect all of this newfound knowledge, take the time to cherish it. All of the jewels that you uncover along the way are what make this journey into realizing your true nature so sweet.

Each time you set up your mat, take solace in knowing that the Santosha yogis sharing space with you know exactly what you are going through. They are holding space and energy for you as you bring your intention to fruition.

Congratulations to you all! This challenge is the catalyst for new insights and big change. Now, allow the changes to happen as you breathe your way into week 3!
