The Road Less Travelled

Life really is beautiful but sometimes we have to struggle through some obstacles in order for us to continue to evolve and grow in every aspect you can think of. When obstacles come up, sometimes we postpone our plans, we procrastinate (certainly a bad habit of mine), we fall back into a state where we think we’re actually ok without, we make excuses, we squirrel our way out of even the tiniest opening. Of course, I can speak to this because I have been there in every single example.

As we were talking about life’s struggles… my Chinese mother gave me a proverbial Chinese saying.

If you can’t move the mountain… Move the road.
If you can’t move the road… Move yourself.

When the obstacle is too big, take it one step at a time and change your approach. If that approach still doesn’t work, you may have to take the road less travelled.

Last year, was an extremely turbulent one for me. It forced me to make decisions and take a strong stance with what I believe and support. The events of that year stripped me raw and I had to rebuild myself from the inside out. Although that year brought me a lot of stress, anxiety, sadness, anger and heartbreak… it taught me so much about myself and about life. Some- times you have to walk through the fire, repay the karma you owe to this world and take the road less travelled. You don’t have to do it yourself and you can always count on the kindness of friends, family and even strangers within your community.

Remember, the only way to shoot an arrow is to pull it back. When life brings you your obstacles and you can’t get through it, take it one step at a time… the universe will never give you something you’re not capable of handling. Learn something from your obstacles and from that you will propel yourself forward towards new experiences, new relationships and new values / beliefs. You are destined for greatness!
