The Yoga Starts Now…

As we begin to work with intentions, we deepen our Yoga practice. We ask the questions why are we here and what do we wish to bring into our lives. Setting intentions through our breath and yoga practice is an extremely powerful tool. Intentions expand our practice outwards and create significant shifts in our lives.

It is a good practice to work with the same intention for at least a month; every time we come to our mat we set our intention.

For the month of May in our Sattva practice we will be working with the intention of: The Yoga Starts Now (as translated from the First Yoga Sutra of Patanjali – “Atha Yoganusasanam”).

I absolutely love this Sutra. It draws me present and reminds me that every moment (now) and every breath is a new beginning and an opportunity to practice my Yoga.

Consider this practice: as you inhale you draw whatever you desire towards yourself; everything that is good enters you on the inhale. And as you exhale you soften and let go of whatever doesn’t serve you. This becomes your Mantra, both on and off the mat: Inhale everything that brings you happiness, Exhale soften and release whatever isn’t serving you.

For the month of May, can this be your intention to become so mindful of your breath that you experience your practice beginning with each inhale… and minimal effort on your part, watch as this practice begins to transform your life.

The Yoga Starts Now… and every moment is Now.
