March Community Partner: Saje Natural Wellness

Plant based medicine that is 100% natural. Our community partner for March knows that our bodies absorb what we put on them and so they use ingredients straight from nature to heal, to soothe, and to protect. You’ll find essential oil remedies, diffusers, soaps and creams to nurture your whole self.

Saje Natural Wellness began from a personal healing journey almost twenty years ago. We had a chance to learn more about Saje’s beginnings, the wonders of essential oils, and what a yogi might want to purchase. And yogi’s remember it’s 10% off this month at the Mount Royal Saje location.

How did Saje come to be?

We were founded in 1992 by Jean-Pierre LeBlanc and Kate Ross LeBlanc, a passionate husband and wife team. After a car accident, Jean-Pierre was faced with a series of health challenges and chronic pain. Seeking a healthier, more effective and natural solution, he leveraged his background in chemistry to blend his first essential oil remedies to aid in his recovery. Kate, having grown up in her mom’s retail business, had a lifelong love for everything retail. As a direct result, Saje began introducing people to the healing power of 100% natural, plant-derived alternatives to pharmaceutical medicine.

Essential oils are incredibly therapeutic. Can you share some of the healing properties that they contain? And a few of your favorites!

From pain and stress management to aiding sleep and soothing allergies, essential oils can provide wholistic treatments for ailments from head to toe. You can pop over to our Ingredient Garden to learn more! https://www.saje.com/ca/ingredient-garden.html
One of our favourite’s here at Saje is Lavender. Floral and herbaceous, lavender is loved for its whole body calming and balancing benefits. In essential oil blends, it works as an adaptogen to increase the effectiveness of other essential oils. This is why you’ll find it in over 150 of our blended products!

Wellness is synonymous with Saje. All products are one hundred percent natural. Can you share the benefits and importance of being natural.

Your body absorbs almost everything you put on it: the good and the bad. When you choose to use natural products, you feel better. It is proven that plant-based medicine is effective in helping your body recover, naturally. At Saje we have many blends that are licensed as Natural Health Products with Health Canada and registered as OTC Products in the USA. What we are doing at Saje is bringing the nature straight to you. To quote our cofounder, Jean-Pierre Leblanc, “We’ve done everything we can to preserve it in its natural state. We’re not doing natural identical, we’re doing nature as it comes in nature.”

I know that being as local and as environmentally friendly as possible is an important part of Saje’s mandate. Can you share a little more about the choices that Saje makes in regards to these?

Saje is rooted in environmental sustainability and ethical responsibility. All of our ingredients are derived from safe and renewable resources. Packaging is simple and made of recycled or recyclable materials. (Our Pocket Farmacy’s used to be water bottles!) We use plant-based inks and dyes and this past holiday we ran a “No Wrapping Required” campaign, creating beautiful packaging designs that were gift-ready, easy, and sustainable.

Any favorite go to’s for this time of year? Calgary seems to be an ever changing climate and tis the season of cold and flus!

We never go anywhere without our Pocket Farmacy! As our flagship product it is the best representation of who we are and how the power of plants can work for you. With our five most loved remedies it was designed to give relief and support your overall wellness. For this time of year our number one go-to in the kit is Immune, a virus and germ fighting remedy.
Immune can be used topically to help relieve symptoms of flu such as colds and cough, but our favourite way to use this is every day to help prevent such symptoms. Simply roll on to the neck and jawline or take a nice deep inhale after rolling the blend into your palms.

Do you have any suggestions of products for our Yogi’s?

Of course! Everyone’s wellness journey is a different one – to discover specific products for each person’s own wellness needs we always recommend them coming in for a visit with one of our team members, but for a general recommendation we truly believe that everyone benefits from the power of diffusing.
Picture this: you’re standing next to a waterfall in the forest. One deep breath of the cool mist transports you to a state of greater, natural wellness. Now imagine having that feeling indoors. This is what happens when you diffuse essential oils.
When the falling water of a waterfall crashes against the rock below, tiny water particles are created and become suspended in the air we breathe. The tiny, ceramic disc inside an ultrasonic diffuser works in a similar way, using vibration to create a cool, odourless water vapour, just like a waterfall. An ultrasonic diffuser also produces negative ions, which help to freshen the air while filling your indoor environment with beneficial essential oils that can take your wellness to new heights. Whether you want to sleep more soundly, increase focus or just feel better, we have dozens of diffuser blends formulated for many wellness concerns.
