How Did Better Prep come to be?
The idea behind Better Prep was formed in a classroom. I was in school getting my certificate in holistic nutrition when my teacher was discussing client compliance and outlining different tools and resources available to help improve client success rates. The sentiment was basically ‘you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink’ which made me feel like all the hard work and effort I was putting into helping others was only being met at half capacity by my clients. I knew that using my skillset I could fast-track their success rate and make the diet and lifestyle overhaul an easier transition! So I decided that rather than TELL people what to eat, I would MAKE it for them. I created a menu that utilized the same principles taught to me regarding holistic nutrition and began offering a service that allowed people to eat nourishing foods in an easy and convenient way. My next step is to work alongside nutritionists to create totally personalized meal plans based on each client’s specific recommendations.
Who is behind Better Prep?
My name’s Meaghan and I own and operate Better Prep with a little help from my partner Luke. I started working in kitchens when I was 13 years old and haven’t really looked back since.
How do you source your ingredients?
I did a lot of research before launching Better Prep to ensure that the suppliers I was choosing not only provided great tasting food, they follow the same values that we preach. By talking to local farmers in various markets around the city I was able to get in contact with local suppliers that are as passionate about their work as I am. A few of our suppliers include Bowden Chicken Farms, Pine Haven Colony, Creative Salmon, and our produce suppliers vary depending on the time of year.
Are you able to cater to people with sensitivities?
Absolutely! The goal with Better Prep is to create a service that is inclusive to all those that require a little extra help in the kitchen. As mentioned, we are looking to work with local nutritionists to provide a totally personalized meal plan based on each person’s specific needs.
How does it work?
You are welcome to browse our menu selections on our website and pick and choose meals as you please. Once your order is placed, we prep and prepare your meals and deliveries take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It’s great if you know you are going to have a busy week and want to have something healthy waiting for you when you get home from work! Our personalized meal plans require a sit-down or phone call to discuss your needs and figure out exactly what you’re looking for.
